Also in comparison to any other form of energy the production of wind energy is a way more cost effective. On an average the production of a kilowatt-hour of wind energy costs just 5 cents. This is cheaper than all other forms of alternative energy.

Also wind energy is entirely renewable. The wind breezes in ample and there are no threats of its extinction whatsoever today. Since the wind is available for free, there is no expected rise in the prices of wind energy as well.

The biggest advantage of wind energy is a long term one. Wind energy can expand our capacity to generate electricity from an abundant natural resource- the wind. This can help to give a boost to the economy of some of the more rural areas of the country.

Also unlike any other form of energy the production of wind energy is easy. It does not need a big plant, but a windmill is to be placed in farms and ranches. The government and energy companies also get to save a lot on production as they have to rent just a small area of land from the area's farmers. As for the farmers they can use their land as well as earn money from the windmill space that they have rented.

The Cons or Disadvantages Like all great things wind energy also has its detractors. They list some of the disadvantages of the wind energy. They say that the size of the windmills are generally large, some times they can be as tall as about 20 story high.

Another commonly stated disadvantage is the noise pollution made by the windmill. Also, the cost of installation is quite high for a windmill. It costs you around $45000 to $50000 to install a wind mill, the rent of the installation area is not included in this.

These perceived disadvantages have resulted in the establishing of Zoning Laws that forbid the installation of windmills in some areas.

So looking at all these pros and cons of wind energy, one can establish that wind is one of the most useful ways of generating energy in the coming days. As for the cost of installation is concerned, it is certainly not a worry for a nation that gets a wholesome source to fulfill its energy needs, especially for its far flung areas; that too without affecting the environment!
